Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy and exciting fortnight in school and lots of highlights. The pictures speak for themselves and thank you for all of your lovely feedback. Every class will have the opportunity to visit our local library (yr1-6) — a fantastic chance to explore books, discover new authors, and nurture a love of reading. For those children that have already been, they were brilliant and returned buzzing with excitement. We hope these visits inspire many to become regular library users!

It was lovely welcoming new and familiar families to our new Reception parent sessions. It is the start of a partnership journey together helping our new starters to develop, grow and flourish. We look forward to seeing you again at transition events over the coming weeks.

At this transition time, letters will be shared soon regarding classes for September. We hope you can all join us for our upcoming school events, (sports days, family picnic and school productions) as our Summer Term flies by.

A Special Delivery from the Cheltenham Science Festival

We were thrilled to receive a brand-new shed, generously donated by the Cheltenham Science Festival and Weareprojectgrow! This fantastic resource will be used to support learning opportunities across the outdoor curriculum. 

 Night at the Museum Celebration

One of the standout moments this week was our magical “Night at the Museum” curriculum showcase event. The school came alive with interactive exhibits, wonderful projects, proudly shared by the children. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and helped make it such a celebration of learning for our children.

Attendance and Punctuality                                                                                                         
We are proud of our Kingsholm community and school family. We want the best for all of the children. So let's help each other to make a positive difference that we are all proud of. Attendance and punctuality are hugely important in helping the school and the pupils to be the best they can be.  There is a clear link between attendance and success in exams, so we encourage students to be in school as much as possible, and to be on time. 

Arriving for School On Time

Learning takes place in the classroom from the very start of the school day. Being on time means the children do not miss out on any vital learning. Being late for school disrupts the classroom and can have a negative impact on individual pupil confidence. 
Please arrive on time in the school playground (before 8.50am).

Planned Absences During Term Time
All school are obliged to follow the DfE and Local Authority guidance around planned absences during term time. There are very limited exceptional circumstances where schools are able to authorise these. Kingsholm strictly adheres to the guidance and unauthorised planned absence may result in a penalty fine being issued.

Medical Appointments

Attendance is affected by medical appointments taken during the school day.  Please make medical appointments outside of school hours wherever possible. We appreciate that sometimes this can be difficult.  If an appointment has to be made during the school day, please inform the school office giving as much notice as possible.

Sports day and family picnic letter June 25

We are a group of parents, grandparents, carers, friends of the school and staff who as a PTFA fundraise for the school to help enrich all of the children's experiences. 

With your help and support we have raised an incredible amount (£5000 this year) which will go towards new playground equipment. 

Every year we liaise with the school to support some of their fundraising goals. Previously we have helped to fund the sensory room, the theatrical lighting in Acorn Hall and upgrading the performance space in Oak Hall. We have also made a donation to the Year 6 leaver's Party this year.

We are already starting to look at next years fundraising - if you have any ideas on events you would like to see take place here or are able to help with, please let us know via our email address.  We are always looking for donations for raffles etc so if you have any contacts or your workplace could donate a prize or two, we would love to hear from you and would be very grateful. 

We are also really keen to welcome new members to the PTFA. Even if it's just an hour here and there, or the sharing of ideas,  your thoughts are really important to us. Do get in touch.  

All our events can be paid for on parentpay. This helps us to know how many children to expect and helps us prepare for the event. We use a token system so it is easier for the children and these are what can be bought on parentpay, prior to an event taking place. 

Our last event of the year will be at the Family Picnic on the 20^th June, where we will be selling ice creams, lollies, popcorn, fruit shoots and cakes and have a few activity stalls for children to have a go at.  We are selling tokens on parentpay. Please ask in the office if you have any questions about this.

We would like to finish on a big thank you to you all for your continued support throughout the year. 

Kingsholm PTFA

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Year 6 cake sale to raise funds towards our Leaver's BBQ to be held at the end of term. We received a huge amount of cakes, bakes etc ,home made and shop bought - all delicious! The children were delighted to see so many of you attend at the end of school yesterday to purchase some of the goodies on offer. We raised in excess of £270 which is a fantastic sum!

Well done to all our Kingsholm Stars who were justly treated to their afternoon tea last week. Keep up the hard work and fulfilling our 3B's, we are very proud of you.

• Class and Y6 Leaver's Photos will take place on Monday 16th June in the morning.  Weather permitting these will take place outside.
• We recently welcomed the Bishop's Visitor-  the recently appointed Revd Mark Dunning who has taken up a slightly reshaped role as Bishop’s Advisor for Self-Supporting Ministry. Mark is an SSM curate in the Newent Benefice. Before ordination, Mark enjoyed a career in teaching and educational leadership, latterly in London.  He trained here in the Diocese of Gloucester as part of the CGH programme and, alongside his parish commitments, maintains his links with schools through his role as the Chair of Governors of a church school and also as a Bishop’s Visitor. 
• Drama Production - Change of date - Hopefully you saw the recent SchoolPing regarding the change of performance date. This will now take place on THURSDAY 26th June at 4pm
• End of Term - A reminder to all parents / carers - at the end of Main Term ( Term 2 - Christmas, Term 4 - Easter and Term 6 - Summer ) School finishes at the earlier time of 1:15 / 1:20pm.
