Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a really special week filled with wonderful Christmas activities which have been a lovely way to end my first term at Kingsholm. It has been a real pleasure to get to know your children and to meet so many of you.
I would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a healthy 2024.

WE ARE NOW A THRIVE SCHOOL
We are exicted to announce that as of January we can offer Thrive Intervention. Training has taken place for all staff and an individual staff member in each year group is currently undertaking further training to become Thrive Practioners. Please see the attached leaflet about what this will offer our children. Individual parents / carers will be contacted in January if their child has been identified for group or one to one intervention.

Y4 Think Tank - Science Museum
As mentioned in the last newsletter, please find some photos taken from the Think Tank trip.
Christingle Service
The children in Years 1 - 6 walked to the Cathedral last Friday for the annual very special Kingsholm Christingle Service. As you will see from the photos, the children all took part in the service. It was a truly uplifting experience to be able to perform in such a beautiful setting. The children were all very sensible holding their candles and managed to not eat the sweets which adorned their 'Christingle Potatoes' - a first for the School and for the Cathedral, as we support people with an orange allergy.
Early Years Christingle and Early Years Sing a Long
The Reception and Nursery children did so well during their first Early Years Christingle Service. It was a lovely service by Curate Luke Falvey and Rev. Jo Pestell from St Catharine's and we hope you enjoy the photos.
The children also sang with great enthusiasm at their Early Years Sing a Long, and judging by the looks on their parents faces, they all really enjoyed it too!
Christmas Jumper Day
It was lovely to see so many children looking very festive in their Christmas Jumpers. Thank you to everyone who dontated to Save the Children. So far we have raised £478.00. We will let you know the grand total in the next edition of the newsletter.
Festive Fun Day
Wow, what an amazing, Christmassy event. Many thanks to the PTFA, and particularly the Chairs for such a special occasion. This year, thanks to your generosity, we raised £1587.96 - an increase on previous years. Thank you for your support. All of the money will be used to enhance our children's experiences. Watch this space for more information!
iRock Concert
We had a fantastic iRock concert with the following bands - named by the band members:
The Awesome Stars, comprising of Year 1 and 2 children performing 'Roar',
Music Forever comprising of Year 2 and 3 children performing 'Shotgun',
The Sky comprising of Year 3, 4 and 5 children who performed 'Firework',
The Potato Army comprising of Year 4 and 5 children who performed 'Radioactive',
Turquoise Peacocks comprising of Year 4, 5 and 6 children who performed 'Green Green Grass'.
A huge well done to all of the band members who performed incredibly well infront of the their family members and all of the KS2 children.
Competition
We are very excited about our current challenge! Please take a look at the 'Look Who's Talking' poster for information on our oracy competition.
The 'How you can help them at home section' is particularly useful. Children have had time to prepare their talks in class, but any extra support you could offer them at home would be appreciated - particularly for those children that have won their class heats already which took place during the week of 11.12.23. They may need to continue to practise their speech ready for the whole school heats in January!
We hope the successful children enjoy preparing and delivering their talks to the rest of the school.

Year 1 Nativity
Well done to all the Children for their fantastic efforts when performing the Bundle of Joy Nativities on Tuesday and Wednesday. The parent / carer turnout was fantastic and I think you'll agree, the children were brilliant and we are very proud of them all.
A huge well done to all the Year 1 staff involved in the all the preparations and rehearsals.
Christmas parties and discos
Huge fun was had by all at these very special events. Many thanks to the parents for your generous donation of food for the parties. We are all feeling very festive now!

Latest News
- Parent / Governor Appointment - We are pleased to welcome our new parent governor, Rifait Abdulla. We have two further vacancies for parent governors, information will be shared with parents in the New Year for nominations.
- Breakfast Club Increase in Price - Please be aware that from 8th January the cost of Breakfast Club is going up. Costs are kept as low as feasibly possible but this increase is unavoidable. The new rate is £3.50
- Plant Pots - If you have any spare plant pots, our volunteer gardeners are keen to obtain some more to plant up spring bulbs.
- Blankets and hot water bottles available - As the temperatures drop and the cold weather is setting in, please be aware the school has lots of blankets and hot water bottles. If you and your family would benefit from these, please speak to anyone in the Inclusion Team, school office or your child's class teacher.
- Thank You - We would like to thank everyone who supported our Festive Fun - we wouldn't be able to host such events if it wasn't for our dedicated PTFA and Staff. Money raised from these event's goes back into the school which obviously benefits the children. We are planning for our summer fete but unless we have the offer of more help with the preparations, we may be unable to run it next year. If you are able to give a few hours per academic year, we would love to hear from you.
- Reminder - School Office Hours - The school office opening times are 8am -4pm. Parents / Carers, please remain outside the white doors prior to dropping the children at Breakfast Club which is open from 7:45 - 8:15.
- Help With School Trips. A SchoolPing was sent out to everyone before half term with a link to a Google form requesting any volunteers who may be available to come and help on school trips. We have lots of different trips with all year groups during the academic year, and any extra adult help is always appreciated. Do get in touch!
- Parent/ Carer Dates - We are currently working on a booklet / document which will provide you with all the forthcoming parent / carer dates for the academic year.
- New Behaviour Policy - We will be holding information sessions for parents / carers about our new behaviour policy next term, after Christmas.
- Next newsletter - The next edition of the newsletter will be available on Friday 19th January.
