We would like to thank the following members of staff, who are leaving Kingsholm for all their hard work. Mrs Lisa Boreland, Ms Lucy Lake and Miss Sharon Bartle. All have been longstanding members of the Kingsholm Family and we wish them the very best in their new ventures.

Y4 Think Tank - Science Museum
The Year 4 children have been learning about electricity and to tie in with this topic, they visited the Science Museum – Think Tank – to further develop the children's understanding, through a variety of practical activities. The children really enjoyed their visit as they were able to explore the museum and extend their learning about all things scientific.
A big thank you to all our visiting volunteers who came and supported the children.

Year 1 - MultiSports Event
Our Year 1 classes had a fantastic day on Wednesday. They ate their packed lunches in their classrooms whilst wearing their handmade Christmas hats. Afterwards they enthusiastically walked to the waiting coach to be transported to Barnwood High School for an afternoon of multi sports. They spent the afternoon taking part in a number of different fun acitivities.
This was a city wide event with other schools also taking part. A big thank you to all our visiting volunteers who came and supported the children.
Year 5 Heritage Hub Visit
Over the last 3 weeks, Year 5 have been visiting The Heritage Hub and exploring the archives of Gloucestershire. Linking to our future History topic of Crime and Punishment through the decades, we examined old newspaper articles, prison records, dietary books and prison rules as well as looking at pictures of Gloucestershire prison. We had a tour of the archives, which used to be the old Kingsholm Primary School, and even went into the refrigerated archive rooms where photographs and other historical documents are stored.
Explore Christmas
The children in Years 2 - 6 had the opportunity to 'Explore Christmas' this week. They walked up to St Catharine's in their year groups and were able to take part in different activites which the church staff created and ran. The children sang songs and heard the new Christmas carol which has been written and composed by the School's Worship team. The children also watched a performance of the Christmas story and made ornamental Christmas angels. We hope you enjoy the photos and would like to say thank you to the wonderful team of staff and volunteers at St Catharine's.

Competition
We are very excited to announce our next competition! Please take a look at the 'Look Who's Talking' poster for information on our oracy competition.
The 'How you can help them at home section' is particularly useful. Children will have time to prepare their talks in class, but any extra support you could offer them at home would be appreciated. They may need to practise their speech and to use their 'big voice'!
The class heats will be carried out the week of the 15.12.23 so children have plenty of time to prepare.
We hope the children enjoy preparing and delivering their talks to classmates.

Latest News
- Plant Pots - If you have any spare plant pots, our volunteer gardeners are keen to obtain some more to plant up spring bulbs.
- Blankets and hot water bottles available - As the temperatures drop and the cold weather is setting in, please be aware the school has lots of blankets and hot water bottles. If you and your family would benefit from these, please speak to anyone in the inclusion team, school office or your child's class teacher.
- After School Clubs - All the clubs finish next week. (This does not include the fee paying Cool Kids).
- Festive Fun - Our annual Festive Fun event will take place on 8th December in Oak Hall, the Dining Hall and outside, from 3:15 - 5pm, thanks to our wonderful PTFA. We have a number of exciting activities and games planned; including making decorations, reindeer food, Christmas storytelling, writing a letter for Father Christmas, refreshments and lots more. The PTFA will be using the token payment scheme again and smaller denominations will be available to buy. Further details to follow, but if you are able to help in any way and haven't already joined the PTFA, please do let the School Office know. We have a wonderful Festive Raffle with tickets available now from the school office, and the playground at the beginning and end of the school day. They will also be for sale on the night. £1 a ticket, £5 for a strip of tickets.
- Token Payments - All activites, food and drink at the Festive Fun event next Friday 8th will be via the token system, except for the raffle, and top up token sales. Tokens are now available to pre order via ParentPay. These will then be given to the children on the afternoon of the event. Please note....... WE ARE UNABLE TO GIVE REFUNDS, so please only purchase the amount of tokens you require. Extra tokens can be purchased at the event. Please see the poster for information regarding the prices of activities / food and drink in tokens to assist with how may tokens you will need. The deadline to pay for tokens is Wednesday 6th December at 10am. After this time, tokens can be purchased at the event.
- Reminder - School Office Hours - The school office opening times are 8am -4pm. Parents / Carers, please remain outside the white doors prior to dropping the children at Breakfast Club which is open from 7:45 - 8:15.
- School Food Bank Donation Requests - We have our own foodbank here in school and can respond quickly to those most in need, however our stocks are running low. Are you able to help? If so, we would be grateful for any of the following items : tea and coffee, biscuits, tinned fruit, tinned custard, tinned rice pudding, shampoo, washing powder, jars of pasta sauce and rice, tinned veg. Thank you in advance, any donation is really appreciated.
- Help With School Trips. A SchoolPing was sent out to everyone before half term with a link to a Google form requesting any volunteers who may be available to come and help on school trips. We have lots of different trips with all year groups during the academic year, and any extra adult help is always appreciated. Do get in touch!
- Parent/ Carer Dates - We are currently working on a booklet / document which will provide you with all the forthcoming parent / carer dates for the academic year.
- New Behaviour Policy - We will be holding information sessions for parents / carers about our new behaviour policy next term, after Christmas.
- Next newsletter - The next edition of the newsletter will be available on Friday 15th December.
