  • Sunny Weather Reminder - with our sunny weather and high temperatures , please remember to send in a named water bottle and sun hat to school each day, and to apply sun cream at home on sunny days too, before the children come in. Children are welcome to bring in a named bottle of sun cream with them to reapply for break / lunch times if they are able to apply it themselves. (Please note that teachers are unable to apply sun cream and children are unable to share their sun cream). If your child brings a packed lunch to school, we ask that you add a freezer block / ice pack to keep their lunch as cool as possible.

School Experiences / Trips

 School Fete

We were thankfully blessed with dry weather for our School Fete. There was a lovely buzz around the school, and whilst tokens were being distrubed to the children in the afternoon, our PTFA, parents/ carers and staff, busily added the finishing touches. As you will see from the photos below, the families had a great time and our stalls were a huge success.

Thank you once again to all our amazing PTFA volunteers and staff who made the event possible, and particular thanks to the three PTFA Chairs, Sal Thomas, Laura Watson and Nic Knight, who worked tirelessly to ensure it was a huge success. You raised an AMAZING £1,985.24, WOW!

Huge thank you's too, to everyone who bought tokens. All of your children will benefit from the money made, which is being put towards creating a Sensory Room.

The PTFA need more volunteers for next year to make running any future events possible. Please let the school office know if you are able to help.

Year 1 Visit to Weston

Thank you to all our parents/ carers and volunteers who gave up their time to come and help our Year 1 children on their day trip to Weston yesterday.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their time, playing together, making volcanoes, building sandcastles, making mermaid tails, burying themselves in the sand, enjoying an ice lolly and trying their best to avoid the sea gulls during their lunch!

Year 6 Leaver's Service at Gloucester Cathedral

Our annual Y6 Leaver's service at Gloucester Cathedral which took place during the school day was once again a lovely opportunity for this years cohort to enjoy their remiaing time at Kingsholm and it gave them the opportunity to reflect on how far they have come on their Kingsholm journey.

School Uniform

We are noticing a number of children who are coming into school not wearing the correct school uniform, including appropriate footwear.

The Governors and staff believe that the wearing of school uniform:

  • · Promotes equal opportunities
  • · Makes an important contribution to raising standards
  • · Is a social leveller
  • · Creates a strong and recognisable school identity
  • · Provides protection from peer pressure
  • · Aids child safety on school visits

The following is the standard school uniform which can be bought at the Monkhouse School Shop in Northgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2AA - Telephone: 01452 413339 (All sweatshirts/cardigans/fleece jackets and polo shirts are embroidered with the school logo). Non logo uniform is also available from Tesco and other leading supermarket brands.

  • White polo shirt
  • School sweatshirt/cardigan *royal blue/grey*
  • Grey/black trousers or shorts
  • Grey pinafore dress/skirt
  • Blue or yellow gingham dress or playsuit/culottes
  • Black or grey socks/tights
  • Black/grey/white socks**  (** With no more than a 3cm frill)
  • Sensible black/navy shoes or Sensible black/navy ankle boots or Black/navy/white sandals
  • Fleece jackets (black with logo*)

Second-hand uniform may be available from the school, please contact the School office for further details.

Indoor PE/Games: Plain black shorts (without pockets) and white T-shirt, Plimsolls/daps or barefoot.

Outdoor PE/Games: As indoor but black/navy blue jogging bottoms and sweatshirt may be worn in the winter months. Appropriate footwear includes plimsolls/daps, trainers, football boots. KS1 children will only need PE footwear in the summer term.

Long hair must be tied up in a band. Children should not wear jewellery for P.E. Earrings must be either removed or micropore tape must be provided from home to cover them during P.E lessons.

Children who do not bring PE kit to school will be provided with clean second hand clothing to wear instead.

We ask you that you clearly mark items of clothing with your child’s full name. Many items of clothing are identical and it is impossible to trace their owners without clear identification. Children should not wear jewellery to school.

The parents/carers of children wearing incorrect uniform will be contacted. Please do let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties. We will always try to help.
