School Experiences / Trips

Family Picnic

The Family picnic on the last day of term was a great success and it was lovely to see so many of our families in attendance. With the introduction of zones, and the new ticket format we beleive it worked well, kept everyone safe and as you will see from the photos taken a great afternoon was had.

Kingsholm Star Afternoon Tea

Our Kingsholm Star winners for Term 5 enjoyed their afternoon tea as you can see from the photos.  We were lucky to be able to have the tea outside and there wasn't much left over!  Well done once again to all the children who thoroughly deserved their treat.

Class 3U - Pizza Express Visit

On Wednesday 8th May, as part of  their Kingsholm Community project, class 3M visited a local restaurant at the Quays - Pizza Express.  The children discussed how they could be part of our local community and what this brings to the local community. The children got to experience the restaurant, learnt about food hygiene, where food comes from and how to prepare delicious pizzas and the best part......... tasting!

Year 1 Visit to Weston

Thank you to all our parents/ carers and volunteers who gave up their time to come and help our Year 1 children on their day trip to Weston yesterday.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their time, playing together, making volcanoes, building sandcastles, making mermaid tails, burying themselves in the sand, enjoying an ice lolly and trying their best to avoid the sea gulls during their lunch.

School Uniform

We are noticing a number of children who are coming into school not wearing the correct school uniform, including appropriate footwear.

The Governors and staff believe that the wearing of school uniform:

  • · Promotes equal opportunities
  • · Makes an important contribution to raising standards
  • · Is a social leveller
  • · Creates a strong and recognisable school identity
  • · Provides protection from peer pressure
  • · Aids child safety on school visits

The following is the standard school uniform which can be bought at the Monkhouse School Shop in Northgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2AA - Telephone: 01452 413339 (All sweatshirts/cardigans/fleece jackets and polo shirts are embroidered with the school logo). Non logo uniform is also available from Tesco and other leading supermarket brands.

  • White polo shirt
  • School sweatshirt/cardigan *royal blue/grey*
  • Grey/black trousers or shorts
  • Grey pinafore dress/skirt
  • Blue or yellow gingham dress or playsuit/culottes
  • Black or grey socks/tights
  • Black/grey/white socks**  (** With no more than a 3cm frill)
  • Sensible black/navy shoes or Sensible black/navy ankle boots or Black/navy/white sandals
  • Fleece jackets (black with logo*)

Second-hand uniform may be available from the school, please contact the School office for further details.

Indoor PE/Games: Plain black shorts (without pockets) and white T-shirt, Plimsolls/daps or barefoot.

Outdoor PE/Games: As indoor but black/navy blue jogging bottoms and sweatshirt may be worn in the winter months. Appropriate footwear includes plimsolls/daps, trainers, football boots. KS1 children will only need PE footwear in the summer term.

Long hair must be tied up in a band. Children should not wear jewellery for P.E. Earrings must be either removed or micropore tape must be provided from home to cover them during P.E lessons.

Children who do not bring PE kit to school will be provided with clean second hand clothing to wear instead.

We ask you that you clearly mark items of clothing with your child’s full name. Many items of clothing are identical and it is impossible to trace their owners without clear identification. Children should not wear jewellery to school.

The parents/carers of children wearing incorrect uniform will be contacted. Please do let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties. We will always try to help.

Parental Support Programme

Everyone is welcome to attend our Parental Support Programme, but we will also be intouch with any families who have asked for our help with these matters.

We look forward to seeing you there.
