School Uniform
We are noticing a number of children who are coming into school not wearing the correct school uniform, including appropriate footwear.
The Governors and staff believe that the wearing of school uniform:
- · Promotes equal opportunities
- · Makes an important contribution to raising standards
- · Is a social leveller
- · Creates a strong and recognisable school identity
- · Provides protection from peer pressure
- · Aids child safety on school visits
The following is the standard school uniform which can be bought at the Monkhouse School Shop in Northgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2AA - Telephone: 01452 413339 (All sweatshirts/cardigans/fleece jackets and polo shirts are embroidered with the school logo). Non logo uniform is also available from Tesco and other leading supermarket brands.
- White polo shirt
- School sweatshirt/cardigan *royal blue/grey*
- Grey/black trousers or shorts
- Grey pinafore dress/skirt
- Blue or yellow gingham dress or playsuit/culottes
- Black or grey socks/tights
- Black/grey/white socks** (** With no more than a 3cm frill)
- Sensible black/navy shoes or Sensible black/navy ankle boots or Black/navy/white sandals
- Fleece jackets (black with logo*)
Second-hand uniform may be available from the school, please contact the School office for further details.
Indoor PE/Games: Plain black shorts (without pockets) and white T-shirt, Plimsolls/daps or barefoot.
Outdoor PE/Games: As indoor but black/navy blue jogging bottoms and sweatshirt may be worn in the winter months. Appropriate footwear includes plimsolls/daps, trainers, football boots. KS1 children will only need PE footwear in the summer term.
Long hair must be tied up in a band. Children should not wear jewellery for P.E. Earrings must be either removed or micropore tape must be provided from home to cover them during P.E lessons.
Children who do not bring PE kit to school will be provided with clean second hand clothing to wear instead.
We ask you that you clearly mark items of clothing with your child’s full name. Many items of clothing are identical and it is impossible to trace their owners without clear identification. Children should not wear jewellery to school.
The parents/carers of children wearing incorrect uniform will be contacted. Please do let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties. We will always try to help.
Parental Support Programme
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES?
We are really keen to do all we can to help our school community and understand that life can be difficult and challenging for many reasons. We have not had many parents attend our first two coffee mornings, please let us know if different timings/days would work better for you.
We want to help you find support for issues that are of importance to you as parents/carers. We understand that there will be things you and your children find challenging.
We have three focus areas for this term that parents/carers and children have said they would like help with. Next year (September 24 - July 25), we would like to plan a programme of support with you. As a school, we have access to statutory and voluntary advisors we can contact and invite in who may be able to help.
Come along to one of our sessions, let us know what you think, and help us plan for future sessions.
We look forward to seeing you there.
