Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to Summer Term 2!

This is a truly special term for so many reasons and one packed with events - Sports Days, Picnic, Leavers, productions and much more.

Our current Y6 cohort will see out their final seven weeks at Kingsholm and there are plenty of special events to look forward to: Cathedral Service, Leavers Service and Y6 Leavers Event. Dates and arrangements will be shared as the term progresses.

This is the last term for our current Reception Cohort who will move up to Y1 in September and for our pre-school children it will not be long before they are joining 'Big School'. A massive, but exciting, step for all of them.

The preparations for staffing have now been confirmed for 2025/26 and alongside our current staff we will welcome Mr Lee Hitchinson as our new Assistant Headteacher and Mrs Tina Hansen who will join us as a new year group lead.

Class allocations have almost been decided, and these will be shared with the children on move up day in July.

I want to thank those parents that came to the Y5/6 Relationships & Sex Education meeting this week. It was great to have the opportunity to share what we teach and most importantly why we teach it. It was felt that the session was really well received.

I also want to say a huge thank you to Gloucestershire University for hosting our Y1 children this week. They provided them with an immersive experience linked to recycling that the children thoroughly enjoyed.

This term our value is Integrity.  Once again we asked the children to design a logo about what this means to us at Kingsholm.

We received so many wonderful designs and as always it was very difficult to choose.

Well done to Agnieshka who designed our lower school logo ( KS1) and to Juliana who designed our upper school logo( KS2).  These will now be displayed on the website and our values displays.

The next value will be shared in due course and we will ask the children to design a new logo for this value. 

Hello Forest School families and friends,

A fantastic start back in the Forest this week, sadly the glorious weather from Half Term didn't stay with us and we have had thundery rain and cloudy skies but that never stops us having fun and learning.  We have had an archery week this week;  making mini bows with straws as arrows for target shooting and distance shots,  Class 3B have been continuing to have their own Forest School Olympics with running races, gymnastics, climbing and balancing.  For those less sport minded we have started exploring cord and string making with friendship bracelets using a Japanese Kumihimo technique.  We will harvest the nettles soon and process them to make nettle cordage (string).

Hello Kingsholm Families,

We hope you had a wonderful half term break.

We are happy to be back at school for our last term of the academic year, and for the Years 6's, our last ever term at primary school.

Today we enjoyed the playground 'Conga' and it was great to see everyone taking part including some of the staff members. Well done to Mrs Hall, Mrs Sheil, Miss Shepherd and Mrs Sian.

Next week, the Year 6's will visit the Cathedral and take part in a Gloucester School's Leavers' service.  There will be an opportunity for Year 6 parents and carers to join us in July for our service at St Catharine's, More information about this will be sent out.

We would like to invite all parents/carers to the PTFA AGM on the 1st July, where they will share the details of funding raised this year and discuss plans for the next academic year. Please can you let the school office know if you will be attending.

We are really looking forward to both the KS1 and KS2 Sports Day, and the Family Picnic on the 19th June.  EYFS sports day will be 9:15-10:15 Thursday 18th June.  Details will be sent out next week. We are delighted that the PTFA are organising a few activities and will be selling ice creams and snacks at the picnic too, many thanks to them all.

We are thrilled to share some very exciting news with you! This summer, Kingsholm will be hosting a brand-new event: Kingsholm’s Got Talent – a whole-school celebration of the incredible skills and creativity of our children.

Inspired by the current series of Britain’s Got Talent, pupils will have the opportunity to audition and earn a place in a live Grand Final, which will take place later in the Summer term.

Acts can include (but are not limited to!)

• comedy,
• singing,
• musical performances,
• magic,
• Any other creative ideas.

Please be aware that an acts performance should last no longer than two minutes. 

Each class will vote for their favourite act, and the winning performers will progress to the Semi-Finals. At this stage, year groups will come together to watch the performances and decide which acts will make it through to the Grand Final.

Further details about the Semi-Finals and the exciting live finale will be shared soon.

We cannot wait to see the confidence, creativity and talent of our children shine on stage and look forward to sharing this special event with you.

Kaleidoscope Children and Family Centre are hosting Community Get Togethers- This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your neighbours, exchange ideas, and discover what’s happening in our local area, all in a welcoming and informal atmosphere. You're invited to join Read With Me's fun and interactive sessions at The Kaleidoscope Children and Family Centre, for early years to primary age children, and their families.

Each session runs from 3:15pm-4:30pm, every week, during term time. Feel free to pop in and enjoy craft activities, lots of story-time and choose some FREE books to take home. Refreshments will be provided.
