Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back after half term to Term 4.

This term will be gone in a blink of an eye with only 5 weeks until Easter and so much to cover.

This week we launched our new Vision - 'Everyone Matters' - with the children and they have been singing our new school song and creating art work to display in the Acorn Hall. We are hoping to share this with you and will let you know when we have confirmed a date.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the parents/carers that attended our SATs information meeting this week. It was great to see so many of you keen to find out more. The Year 6 team will be working hard to ensure that all the children are prepared and feel comfortable for the tests when they arrive. Below is a timetable for your reference:

As you may know it's World Book Day next week, please see below for more information about the events taking place which includes parents / carers being invited into School on Friday Morning  from 8.40am-9.15am to read with your children. Children are welcome to bring a book from home or read the one they are currently reading in class.

Staff News

It is with sadness that we are saying goodbye to Miss Hubbard in a couple of weeks. She has been supporting our SEN team and working within the Early years. She has done a fantastic job and will be sorely missed. We wish her all the very best in her new ventures.

Furthermore, we will be starting to make some changes in Reception Blue class in preparation for the return of Miss Mitchel from her maternity leave. A new teacher, Mrs Lockhart will be working alongside Mrs Blackton and Mrs Steadman from next week in the class to support the children. Mrs Blackton will still be working closely with the class, being very much involved in its operation, but will be taking on a larger role within our SEN team to support all children across the school.

Hello Forest School families,

What a beautifully sunny start to our term at Forest School after such a rainy, muddy end to the last one.  We have been watching and listening to the bees gathering pollen from the wild plum trees, lots of mud kitchens have sprung up, a new swing has been made, the bug hotel is continuing to be improved, treasure hunts to find tiny treasures have been happening, and we have continued learing to whittle with the added twist of making butter spreaders and knitting needles. Lots of busy learner led fun.

Here's hoping the weekend continues sunny and warm for us all.

Hello Kingsholm Family,

This week we have welcomed our Year 6 parents/carers to our guided reading hook.  This involved making lanterns, a pic collage ( which is using old materials to create a picture) fans and a mosque.

A few clubs are starting next week and we look forward to the Drama club performance which will take place at the end of June.

We are looking forward to World Book Day and the events being held next week. More information can be found below.

This year we have planned several exciting events to celebrate ‘World Book Day’. The events are as follows:

Tuesday 3rd March- Buddy Reading- During the school day the children will be joining up with another year group in the school to share a story or listen to a reader.

Wednesday 4th March- Authors Visit (Years 4, 5, 6)- Two authors (Jon Lock and Nich Angell) will be visiting school to meet the children and complete a workshop with them. If children have purchased their book - 'Tiny Hercules' they will also be able to get this signed by the author.

Thursday 5th March – Pop up shop - This year we would love for the children to donate a book that they have finished reading and are happy to donate for another child to enjoy reading.

Each class will have the opportunity to go to the Oak Hall during the school day and visit our ‘pop up shop’ to choose a new book to take home and read.

We kindly ask that these donations are age appropriate for your child’s class, this will ensure that every child has the opportunity to take a book home.

Please can all donations be handed in to class teachers by Monday 2nd March to ensure we have time to sort and organise the books.

Please note, we will be allowing the children to come on Thursday 5th March dressed as a book character if they so wish. If you have not already sourced an outfit we would ask that you come in school uniform.

Friday 6th March- Reading Café- We would like to invite you ( our Parents / Carers)  into school from 8.40am-9.15am to read with your children. Children are welcome to bring a book from home or read the one they are currently reading in class.

Next term we will also have the return of the Book Fayre. This will take place during the week commencing 20th April, we will update you on the opening times closer to the time.

Well done to all our Kingsholm Star children for all their hard work, demonstrating their 3B's during Term3.  The children all enjoyed their afternoon tea earlier in the week.

Thank you to those families that were in attendance for the Internet Safety Day talk at the end of last term.

Thank you to our familes who are able to attend their child's Kingsholm Star Awards assemblies. The children love to see their families in attendance and it makes the assembly an extra special experience for them.

Thank you to everyone who supported the PTA Hot Chocolate and Cookie fundraiser this afternoon. 

Kaleidoscope Children and Family Centre are hosting Community Get Togethers- This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your neighbours, exchange ideas, and discover what’s happening in our local area, all in a welcoming and informal atmosphere. • Cool Kids, Buffer and Breakfast Club - These provisions MUST be booked in advance using the link which is sent out weekly via SchoolPing.  ALL sessions need to be paid for in advance unless you pay monthly and already have this payment agreement set up and in place. If there is any outstanding debt, places will be refused until the account is cleared. 

• CBeebies Parenting Please see the link to little videos, activities and games to help with all sorts of things like toothbrushing, bedtimes, morning routines etc.

The children have decided to raise funds for the following charities which we think are excellent choices.

NATIONAL - GUIDE DOGS for the Blind - Non Uniform day - Friday 15th May

GLOBAL - World Wildlife Fund - Non Uniform day - Friday 10th July

We will be holding Non Uniform Days throughout this year where we will invite the children to come to school in their own clothes in return for a small donation to the charity. Each of the charities chosen are sending in people (When possible) and resources to help the children understand more about their work.
