At Kingsholm C of E Primary School, we believe that children should attend school regularly and arrive on time.
Good attendance and being punctual is crucial to effective learning and the continuity of the learning experience. We encourage our children to come to school and to be on time each school day. Our lessons start straight away after registration at 8.50 am.  The children who are regularly late therefore miss vital learning time each day. Regular attendance and being punctual will help their social skills, such as making and keeping friendships. A regular and punctual attendance pattern will also help when they go to senior school, college and eventually enter the world of work.
If there are children who are repeatedly absent and/or late we will contact the parents and carers to establish reasons for this and we will work together to resolve the issues.

Children in England and Wales are required by law to attend school for just 190 days out of 365 each year. These days are organised into six terms, which leaves families with 13 weeks of designated holiday and an additional 5 days when school is closed for staff to undertake training days.
Having a good level of attendance at school gives your child the best chance of success in achievement and progress both now and in the future.

Morning registers
Please note that the School Attendance Policy has been slightly updated with the following wording, as per recent guidance from the Local Authority:
“Registers will be open in classrooms at 8:50am and closed at 9:20am. Any pupil who arrives after 8.50am will be marked as late L in the register (L code). Any pupil who arrives after 9:20am will be marked as unauthorised late in the register (U code) unless an acceptable reason is given”

Therefore any pupil arriving late for school via the school office, without prior agreement, will be marked as late. Lateness is monitored by the Local Authority. Persistent lateness may lead to a fixed penalty notice being issued. Please be on time for school , every day!

We would like to thank everyone who took part in the Bingo yesterday, and all those parents who paid for them to do so! Reception and Year 1 had theirs in Acorn Hall and Years 2-6 had their bingo in Oak Hall.  Mrs Baldwin enjoyed her role as Bingo caller, she was as brilliant as ever, and hopefully the winners enjoyed their prizes. The PTFA raised £301 which is a fantastic sum and this will go towards our outdoor play equipment which we are hoping to have ready for the start of the Autumn Term.

A date for your diaries!

We are holding a special Summer Celebration on the 20th June. This is a combined event which will include Sports Day in the morning, Family Picnic and some additional activities/games for children in the afternoon. This will be the final fundraiser of the year for the PTFA and they will be selling tokens again for the activities/ice creams and cakes.
