Hello Forest School families,

A lovely first week back for us all.  We arrived at Forest School to find our huge sycamore tree is fully in leaf the children were so excited to see the changes.  The Hawthorn and Elder are flowering, ladybirds are coming out to lay their eggs and bees, hover flies and a number of other minibeasts have been spotted.  A snail home was made from an egg box, and much time was spent mindfully making wrapped initial letters in the calm of the forest.

Hello Kingsholm Families,

We hope you all had a lovely Easter break.

This week has been very busy, Year 6 have started a new History Topic. We are also continuing to work towards our SATS but still managing to enjoy or break and lunch times.

Next week we have the 3 for 2 Book Fair taking place every day after school. ( Please see the information below)

Drama club starts again and casting has been done.  The rehearsals start again next week and will finish at the later time of 4:30.We look forward to our end of term performance.

On Monday 20th April the Book Fair arrives at Kingsholm! The book fayre is a 3 for 2 book fayre – meaning you get 3 books for the price of 2! The book fair will be open from 3:25-3:40pm everyday next week. On Monday & Tuesday the book fair will be in the dining hall. Wednesday-Friday it will be in the Oak Hall as normal. Please note the book fair is cashless. You can pay via card, apple pay or google pay.

Our Catering Team have been awarded the Environmental Health 5 star food hygiene rating  again, during an inspection this week. We are very proud of their hard work in achieving this.

A 5-star food hygiene rating, administered by local Environmental Health Officers (EHO) under the Food Standards Agency, 

signifies "very good" hygiene standards

. To achieve this, businesses must score 15 or less total points, with no single category scoring more than 5, focusing on safe food handling, clean premises, and effective management records. 

Key Steps to a 5-Star Rating

Food Hygiene & Safety (60% of score): Ensure strict temperature controls (fridges below 5°C, hot holding above 63°C) and prevent cross-contamination by storing raw meat below ready-to-eat foods.Premises & Structure: Maintain clean,, pest-free, well-lit, and ventilated premises, with all equipment in good repair.Management & Records: Implement a documented food safety management system (e.g., Safer Food, Better Business) and ensure all staff hold, at minimum, Level 2 food hygiene training.

The majority of our courses are free to anyone over 19 years old, that is resident of the UK at the start of the course and earns less than £25k per year.

We wanted to let you know about the upcoming Bikeability Holiday Course taking place during the May half term. This is a great opportunity for pupils who may have missed Bikeability training in school to still take part and learn an important life skill through cycling.

Cycling helps children build confidence, independence, and physical activity into their daily lives. It also plays an important role in road safety, helping pupils develop the skills and awareness they need to ride safely, understand the road environment, and make safer journeys.

We also wanted to highlight that we will be running two further holiday course sessions, during the summer holidays and October half term, so there will be more opportunities for pupils to take part later in the year as well.
