Dear Parents/Carers,

There is really only one place to start this week - SATs!

Love them or hate them they are part and parcel of what we do in Primary Schools and does set children up for the experiences ahead of them in Secondary.

The children were phenomenal throughout - It was so pleasing to see every single one of them try their very best across all the tests. The children were calm and settled and there was very little anxiety visible. For this I need to say a huge thank you to you as parents who were able to get the children here on time and reduce any stress that could develop.

Furthermore, I want to say a huge thank you to the staff team. It was all hands-on deck to ensure that every child received the right level of support; every room and adult was taken and the whole operation ran smoothly.

After Thursday's final test the children let out a cheer of celebration and a sigh of relief.

We now look forward to Summer Term 2 and lots of fun activities. There is still the small matter of 'Writing Assessments' to do but the teachers will intersperse these with fun projects and things to prepare the children for transition. 

On a slightly different note.... I wanted to say a huge thank you for the support shown in my new 'Fun Time Friday' dance sessions (despite the technical difficulties). It is great to see more and more involved - I am expecting all adults to partake in the YMCA next time around!

This term our value is Curiosity.  Once again we asked the children to design a logo about what this means to us at Kingsholm.

We received so many wonderful designs and as always it was very difficult to choose.

Well done to Hazel who designed our lower school logo ( KS1) and to Ephrem who designed our upper school logo( KS2).  These will now be displayed on the website and our values displays.

The next value will be shared in due course and we will ask the children to design a new logo for this value. 

With half term next week ( Friday 22nd ) and school finishing at normal time ( 3:15) the focus is the Half Term break. Are you looking for things to do in Gloucester this May Half Term? Hello Forest School families and friends,

Another busy couple of weeks with seemingly all the weathers, as I write this we are enduring a very heavy hail storm!

Year 1 and 3 have built a fire and used it to make their own charcoal to draw with.  They took their art supplies back to the classroom and drew beautiful hieroglyphics as part of their history lesson about Ancient Egypt.  Mr Wilson has put some photos on Dojo for you to see.  There have been many homes made for snails both large and small. Today Y1 have been focussing on different ways to build a den as teams.  The dens were swiftly used when rain and hail hit.

Hello Kingsholm Families,

We hope you have had a great week.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise funds for our Year 6 cake sale. We raised over £250 which is fantastic.

This week we have finished our SATs which is a great relief.  We appreciated all the help from the staff and everyone involved.

Today the School Councillors have worked with an artist which was good fun.

It was great to see so many children in their non school uniform and the money raised will go to the Guide Dogs. We hope to have raised lots of money for all the dogs and everyone involved with this charity.

We are looking forward to the school discos and the end of term next week.  We wish everyone a great half term and look forward to lots of sunshine and excitement during the summer term. Including sports day, family picnic and the end of term drama performance.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 3rd June here at school 9-10  and 6-7 at the Farmer's Club, when we will be planning our last  event for this academic year, hasn't the year flown by.

We are thrilled to share some very exciting news with you! This summer, Kingsholm will be hosting a brand-new event: Kingsholm’s Got Talent – a whole-school celebration of the incredible skills and creativity of our children.

Inspired by the current series of Britain’s Got Talent, pupils will have the opportunity to audition and earn a place in a live Grand Final, which will take place later in the Summer term.

To ensure everyone has plenty of time to prepare and practise, the first round of auditions will begin in the first week back after the half-term break. During this week, children will be given hall and stage time to perform their act to their own class.

Acts can include (but are not limited to!)

• comedy,
• singing,
• musical performances,
• magic,
• Any other creative ideas.

Please be aware that an acts performance should last no longer than two minutes. 

Each class will vote for their favourite act, and the winning performers will progress to the Semi-Finals. At this stage, year groups will come together to watch the performances and decide which acts will make it through to the Grand Final.

Further details about the Semi-Finals and the exciting live finale will be shared soon.

We cannot wait to see the confidence, creativity and talent of our children shine on stage and look forward to sharing this special event with you.

You're invited to join Read With Me's fun and interactive sessions at The Kaleidoscope Children and Family Centre, for early years to primary age children, and their families.

Each session runs from 3:15pm-4:30pm, every week, during term time. Feel free to pop in and enjoy craft activities, lots of story-time and choose some FREE books to take home. Refreshments will be provided.

The children have decided to raise funds for the following charitiy which we think is an excellent choice.

Our final Non Uniform Date: 

GLOBAL - World Wildlife Fund - Non Uniform day - Friday 10th July

We will be holding a Non Uniform Day on the above date where we will invite the children to come to school in their own clothes in return for a small donation to the charity. Each of the charities chosen are sending in people (When possible) and resources to help the children understand more about their work.
