Dear parents/carers and families,

I would like to extend a very warm welcome back to all our families as we begin the new school year. I hope you enjoyed a restful summer break and had the opportunity to spend valuable time together. It has also been lovely to meet our new Reception and Nursery children and welcome them, along with their families, to our school community. They are settling in beautifully and building relationships with their new adults and friends. 

The start of a new term always brings a sense of excitement about the year ahead and what we can achieve together. We look forward to working closely with you to support your children in all aspects of their development. Your continued partnership is greatly valued, and together we can ensure that Kingsholm remains a place where every child matters and thrives.

From this September, we have some new Christian values we will be sharing with the children, as we have realigned our value focuses with our HIVE curriculum. This term the children are exploring the meaning and importance of Generosity. As part of this launch, we asked the children to design a logo about what this value means to us at Kingsholm. We received so many wonderful designs that we chose a KS1/EYFS and KS2 design. Well done to Vienna Royles who designed our lower school value and Ilori Padfield who designed our upper school value. These will now be displayed on the website and our values displays. The next value will be shared over the coming weeks and we will ask the children to design a new Logo for this value too.

Make Every Day Count!
As we begin the school year, we are encouraging every pupil to make every day count!  Strong attendance means your child doesn’t miss out on key learning and the fun, memorable moments that make life at Kingsholm so special. We’re aiming high for excellent attendance and punctuality because every day in school matters.

Pupils should arrive at school from 8.35am

Please arrive on the school playground in plenty of time to line up with the teacher and be in class for morning registration. Being late for school disrupts learning for pupils in the classroom and staff. It can have a negative impact on individual pupil confidence. 
The school gates are closed promptly at 8.50am.

Poorly Pupils

If your child is too unwell to attend school, please report this to the school office each morning of their absence in person, by telephone or email. If you are leaving a voicemail, we need to know their full name, class and the reason for the absence.

Medical Appointments                                                                                                                         

Please make routine medical appointments outside of school hours wherever possible. We appreciate that sometimes this can be difficult.  If an appointment has to be made during the school day, please inform the school office giving as much notice as possible. We would expect pupils to be in school before / after their appointment and we may ask for a copy of the appointment for our records.

Please always contact the school office to pass on messages regarding the children, for example if they have a hospital appointment or are being collected from school by a different adult. We do need to have a valid reason provided for all school absences and any collections that may happen during the school day.

It was so lovely to see so many of you join us for our Class teacher 'Meet and Greet' on Wednesday afternoon. The children were eager to share with you their new classrooms and learning environments. If you would like any further information about the children's current curriculum topics, you can find our HIIVE curriculum overviews, for each year group, under 'The Kingsholm Curriculum' on our school website. 

We appreciate droppping off and collecting at the beginning and end of the school day is tricky due to the location of the school with limited parking.  We therefore request that you please consider everyone's safety and when parking, please do not obstruct driveways, emergency access gates and please do not park in the school car parks or the children's centre as these are in constant use by staff.  Thank you for you support with this.

This term, we are excited to be trialling the use of external providers to run some of our after-school clubs. Our children told us they were keen to take part in more tailored activities that require special skills, equipment, and expertise. To make this possible, some clubs will have a small fee to help cover the cost. This approach has allowed us to offer the unique and exciting clubs our children have asked for. More information about how to book these clubs will follow. 

Thursday 11th September – Round 1 Recap

Round 1 of the school football tournament took place on Thursday 11th September, and our team got off to a spirited start. The squad faced two tough matches, battling hard throughout both games. They came away with one loss and one hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the goal in the drawn match — a true display of teamwork and skill. It all started at the back with some intricate passing between Fayo and Oscar. They worked the ball cleverly before Oscar slipped a pass through to Kaden. Spotting an opportunity, Kaden delivered a Beckham-esque through ball to Chase, who calmly slotted it home from close range. A superb team goal that showcased the talent and chemistry within the squad!

The team now looks ahead to Round 2, which will take place on Thursday 18th September. Stay tuned for more action and support the team as they continue their tournament journey!
