Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back - I hope that you have had a relaxing Summer holiday and were able to enjoy the sunshine.

We have already had a fantastic start to the year - the children look keen and eager to the learn.

I wanted to write a quick note to let you know of a few key messages. A full newsletter will come out next week that will outline some of the exciting things we are looking forward to this year.

Over the summer the site team have been hard at work and you will notice that our main block has been fitted with reflective film to help repel the heat - Hopefully this will ensure the classrooms remain a little cooler in the future and prevent further closures.

Meet the teacher

On Monday, after school, there is an opportunity for you to visit your child's classroom, see where they are based and meet the staff. Please do feel free to drop in and introduce yourself.

Positive Behaviour

This year we are introducing a new 'Credit Card' system for House points. Children will work to earn House points and at different intervals can earn a Bronze, Silver, Gold or even Platinum Card. Each card will be presented in Shine worship. They are a mark of achievement and hard work and will give them access to an end of term prize draw.

If your child manages to achieve a Positive Behaviour Credit Card please celebrate this with them at home.

Crisp Friday

At Kingsholm we are very aware of the need to promote healthy eating and have always insisted on a healthy snack for Breaktime. Reception, Y1 & Y2 are still eligible for the Governments free fruit program and will be offered a snack at breaktime.

However, we also know that it is nice to have a treat every now and again. Therefore, we are introducing 'Crisp Friday'. On a Friday breaktime children will be able to have crisps/popcorn instead.

Please do not bring in sweets or chocolate.

Uniform

It has been brilliant to see so many children in the correct uniform from day one. Please come and speak to a class teacher or the office if you need any help or have any questions about this. The policy is available to read on the website.

Clubs

The availability of after school clubs is being completed and next week you will have the opportunity to sign up. Please be mindful places are limited.

Key Dates:

  • Non-uniform day for Harvest – Friday 9th October

  • Individual portraits and Sibling School photos - Tuesday 6th October

  • Annual Nasal Flu Immunisations - Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th October

  • Break the rules day (Fundraising Event) – Friday 23rd October

  • Inset Day – Monday 2nd November

  • Time to Talk Evenings – Tuesday 10th / Wednesday 11th November

Please remember at any time our doors are always open - If you have any queries or questions please speak to the classroom staff, the office, catch a member of SLT on the playground before/after school or make an appointment at the office.

Kind Regards

Tony Larner
