How can you help?

If you are reading this section you may be considering offering your skills, volunteering for a few hours a week or on a one off project, or making a one off, (Even a monthly) financial donation, to enrich the lives of our children and families.

We know that our extended Kingsholm Family, parents. carers, grandparents, relatives, friends, colleagues and alumni have a huge and varied number of skills and talents, as well as brilliant networks and contacts.

Something that you can just do, take for granted, or find easy, may give an opportunity to our children that can change lives. Are you good at DIY, can you knit, sew or crochet, are you an amazing storyteller, would you enjoy listening to a child read once a week, would you like to come on trips with us? Do you enjoy gardening, painting (Walls or pictures!), cooking or being outdoors. Whatever your skill, hobby, or interest, we would love to hear from you. With your help, we could offer so much more to our children.

Please get in touch with the School Office via our email address virtualoffice@kingsholm.gloucs.sch.uk or the school number 01452 530 777 if you can help.

Equally valuable is financial help. No matter what budget a school has, it's never enough. Many of our children have limited opportunities, for lots of different reasons, life can change and become challenging if parents/carers lose a job, a family suffers a bereavement, or are struggling with the cost of living crisis. We are passionate about all our children having an exciting childhood, filled with adventures and positive memories. A one off or regular financial donation would make such a difference to what we are able to offer, for example:

  • Keep our in school food bank topped up

  • Enable us to be reactive to a family in need - buying a child a coat, or school shoes.

  • Help fund a trip, visit to the theatre or a musical workshop in school.

  • Help to buy games and gardening equipment.

  • Provide therapeutic support and specific environments for children experiencing an emotional crisis

Forest Classroom Volunteers

We are particularly looking for adults to help us with our Forest Classroom provision. Forest Classroom is a time for children to be in the natural world and follow their own interests, helped by the facilitating adults. It is run each week and can be for any age group.

We play games, use tools, tell stories, play in the mud, use hammocks and tight rope/slacklines, climb trees, do nature-based crafts, and learn how to take responsibility for managing risk. We learn about nature and our place in it. We have campfires and use them for cooking and making art supplies. Forest Classroom runs for the whole year, in all weathers. It complements formal learning.

Learning skills outside the purely academic enhance and extend children’s skills, taking them into the community as confident, self-aware people able to use and spread their emotionally intelligent knowledge to those they deal with, disseminating out further as they become parents and working adults.

If you can help with a few hours regularly, on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, please contact our school office on 01452 530777, or via email; virtualoffice@kingsholm.gloucs.sch.uk
