Kingsholm C of E Primary School Expenditure of Sports Premium Funding

At Kingsholm C of E Primary School were are using our PE & Sport Premium funding to develop:

Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with Primary teachers when teaching PE.

During University time:

Martial Arts coaching for Years 4 & 5.

Street dance sessions for Years 2 & 3.

During Curriculum time

Gloucester All Gold Rugby League coaching for Year 4.


Supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change 4 Life clubs.

Miss Doherty has attended a Change 4 Life course and is running a Change 4 Life club for targeted Year 3 & 4 children during the Spring Term.


New clubs and activities that have been on offer this year include street dance, martial arts, rugby league, lifeguarding, hockey, darts, golf and badminton.


Year 2 went to a Christmas multi-skills fun day and Years 1 and Reception will also take part in this in Spring and Summer terms.


Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and Sport.

Staff have been on the following courses:

Change 4 Life attended by BD.

Outstanding PE lesson & assessment attended by BD.

Gymnastics & Dance attend by HS.

Rounders attended by AD.

GSP PE meeting attended by HS.

Balanceability attended by LN.

BUPA PE training for KS1 attended by HB.

Providing cover to release Primary teachers for professional development in PE & Sport

Teachers have been released from class to organise tournaments & competitions as well as courses to enhance their CPD.


Running sports competitions and increasing pupil’s participation in The School Games.

This year we have been running Football ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams as well as a Netball team. We have taken part in leagues and cup competitions in both sports.


We will be entering tag rugby, tag rugby league, hockey,

swimming and athletics competitions during the Spring & Summer terms.


In the Summer term we will hold Football and Rounders house competitions in school time.

In September 2013 Years 4-6 held their sports day.

In the Summer term Reception and Years 1-3 will be holding their sports day.


Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE & sport.

We have joined the Gloucester School Sports Network and the Youth Sports Trust which enable us access to specialist CPD and competitions.

Each class has two timetabled slots for PE lessons in games, dance and gymnastics.


Year 4&5 have been swimming in Autumn term.

Year 4 are carrying on in Spring term.

Year 3 will be swimming in the Summer term.


Year 6 take part in Outdoor & Adventurous Activities during their annual residential.


We will have some coaches to assist PE lessons from local clubs such as Gloucester All Golds Rugby League in the Spring Term.


Y6 are to take part in a Multi Activity PE fun day in May at Hartpury College.


Year 5 are attending a tri-golf workshop at Hartpury College. Some children will attend a follow-on tournament.


Some of the Y5 pupils have taken part in the Gloucestershire County Council Bikeability cycle training scheme which teaches the children about road safety and the Highway Code.


Sports Relief Day

All the children had the opportunity to go onto the field or playground to try out difference sports equipment that some of them may have never used before during Sports Relief day. 


During the academic year children have the opportunity to attend the following clubs:

  • Change 4 Life
  • Tennis
  • Rounders.

The following University modules have been offered in Autumn and Spring Terms.

We are part of the Gloucester Primary Schools Football Association and take part in the league and cup competitions as well as tournaments such as 5-a-side at GL1. We have also attended a ‘B’ team festival.


We have taken part in the early season Netball tournament and Netball league vs teams such as Widden, Hempsted, Highnam and Linden.


We took part in the Hockey Quicksticks tournament and came in second place. As a result, we reached the County Finals at Cheltenham College.


The year 4’s have attended a Rugby League tournament as a result of their coaching with Gloucester All Golds.


We will be taking part in the following competitions throughout the year:

  • Swimming Gala,
  • Tag Rugby Union
  • Primary Athletics
  • Primary Rounders


All Key Stage 1 year groups will take part in the multi-skills fun competitions at Oxstalls Tennis Centre.


* There may be the opportunity to progress to County finals for certain competitions.
